German Diversity Day 2023 - strengthening equal opportunities at all levels

For the third time, our action day took place on 23 May 2023 on the occasion of the German Diversity Day. Under the motto "Strengthening equal opportunities", our diversity network had prepared an interesting and varied programme. In addition to impulses from the network and the management, our keynote speaker, Fatima Hussain, shared her experiences on the topic of "Unconscious Bias" with the participants.

Unconscious Bias is the totality of our anticipatory judgements and perceptual biases that each and every individual has. By categorising, we can process new information more quickly and reduce complexity. This can be beneficial in some situations, but it also leads us to unintentionally discriminate and "pigeonhole" people. Mindfulness and an open exchange are the first steps to becoming aware of our unconscious biases and making more objective decisions in the second step. 

It is important to us to treat each other with respect and appreciation, which is why we are equally committed to our employees and society. As a family-run company, social cohesion is particularly important to us.

In addition, it is important to create role models in the company. An example: If female partners are visible in the company for young career starters, this is encouraging and creates identification figures in the "sea of dark blue suits".  

The commitment against discrimination and for more equal opportunities is not only relevant for Rödl & Partner on Diversity Day, but we deal with it in different groups and initiatives throughout the year.
