10 years at Rödl & Partner: A look back from Dr. Christian Maier

I found my way to Rödl & Partner early on in my studies through the sponsorship programme of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 2004. After an internship and working student activity at Rödl & Partner in Nuremberg and a side trip to Rödl & Partner in Atlanta, USA, I started working as an audit assistant at the Competence Center International Accounting in Nuremberg in January 2010.

 
There and in the resulting Capital Markets & Accounting Advisory Services team, I have been dealing with accounting matters of capital market-oriented companies and international groups of companies in the course of numerous audits and advisory projects over the last ten years. At the same time, I completed my doctorate and passed the professional exams to become an auditor and Certified Public Accountant (U.S.).

 
In mid-2019, after almost ten years, I moved from the Nuremberg office to Stuttgart and am now building up the Capital Markets & Accounting Advisory Services division there. Today, I work almost exclusively as an adviser, covering accounting topics according to IFRS, US-GAAP and HGB, group accounting, organisation and optimisation of accounting, smart solutions for complex business transactions, preparation and support of IPOs and XBRL reporting. For a few years now, I have also been dealing with the increasingly important auditing of and consulting on non-financial reporting and sustainability in the field of auditing.

 
The last ten years have been full of wonderful events, which have resulted from situations with great colleagues and a great team both on and off the job. Many current colleagues have been my companions from the very beginning, whom I value very much both professionally and personally. In my free time, family and friends come first. To balance out my work, I go mountain biking through the Palatinate Forest, to the ski slopes or bouldering. Afterwards I like to relax with a delicious meal and a good bottle of wine in the circle of family and friends.

 
I am looking forward to the next years at Rödl & Partner and the challenges that come with them. The previous ones have always been dynamic and I hope that this will continue in the future.
